The market for agricultural tires (tyres) is specialist, with clearly defined products and markets. A number of the largest tire (tyre) companies are exiting this market, making way for the growth of smaller, more specialist, manufacturers and niche players.
However, the market is becoming increasingly sophisticated with a steady move towards radial tires and specific designs to minimise soil compaction. At the same time many farm vehicles are becoming more powerful in order to increase productivity and they need improved traction on a variety of surfaces.
A major trend is a widening of the market from the traditional farm- centred products to include tires (tyres) for landscape maintenance vehicles and the rapidly growing sector of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs.)
This report is in preparation and will be available early 2011.
An Apology
Half the world uses the word "tire" whilst the other half uses "tyre". Unfortunately search engines don't realise that they mean the same. In order to be recognised by the search machines we have had to resort to the irritating strategy of duplicating the two words. Sorry!
